Hi
I have been part of alternative medicine since 1978, mainly as an acupuncturist, iridologist, herbalist and naturopath.
I enjoy ’spreading the word’, especially about empowering the individual; and I love to shatter ’sacred cows’ - commonly held beliefs which are, basically, rubbish.
For me, if I find out I have believed something which is just not true, I say: hallelujah - I have learned; I move on. Then, I really like to share that stuff. (By the way - the hallelujah is in a non-religious sense. I am a buddhist/taoist type of guy.)
Recently, the best thing I learned was that we are all killing ourselves by eating too much starch; that our bodies are not able to deal with it. Getting fat is bad enough; but eating starch goes much further than that. Starch is the root of high blood pressure, a major cause of arteriosclerosis and of high blood pressure.
It is fascinating to me that I didn’t realize this last year; and that most of our doctors don’t realize it even now.
More than ever, I realize, we have to look after our own health. This blog is one which charts my own journey and my learning. I am not overweight, but the issues which affect people who are, overlap with my own. The main issue: starch.
Starch makes you fat, which means you are liable to die younger than you would have. Starch also kills us young(er) by encouraging heart and artery disease; diabetes; and certain cancers.
You can’t be bothered to cut down on starch in your diet? Cool; I respect your viewpoint. Die young and suffer - it’s your choice. (Tongue slightly in cheek.)
But, if you think you ought to cut down; if you want to cut down; if you want to prolong active healthy life - stay with my blog. And see: www.livingto150.com too.
The best of health, and warm wishes.
